Divisions
The Public Works Department operates through the following divisions:
Building Maintenance
is responsible for the routine maintenance of all municipal buildings and Village-owned rental property.
Equipment Maintenance
is responsible for the maintenance of all Village-owned mechanical equipment including building, fire, police, and public works vehicles, Major pump and equipment repairs required for the utilities operation; and mechanical equipment for all public buildings.
Forestry
is responsible for the care of all public grounds and trees, including parkway trees. This includes the removal of undesirable and diseased trees, tree planting, tree spraying, tree trimming, weed spraying, brush removal, parkway restoration, and parking lot and public building grounds maintenance.
Water
is responsible for the operation and maintenance of water distribution, the servicing or replacement of meters, and the sanitary and storm sewer collection system. It is also responsible for the reading of the water meters, water main breaks, turn-ons and turn-offs of residential water services.
Street Maintenance
is responsible for street sign maintenance, repair, and minor reconstruction of all streets (excluding state owned roads), Village-owned parking lots, and storm sewer structures.
State roads include: 17th Avenue, 25th Avenue, Cermak Road, and Roosevelt Road. If you encounter any problems on these roads please contact Public Works and we will notify the appropriate party.
Streets are also responsible for the maintenance of all municipal street lighting (excluding Commonwealth Edison lighting), traffic signal repairs, and electrical maintenance requirements of municipal buildings.
Commonwealth Edison is responsible for all the wooden poles located in our town. If one of these lights is not working properly, please contact Commonwealth Edison at 877.426.6331.
