Patrol Bureau
The Patrol and the Investigative Division consolidated and became the Operations Division, supervised by a Division Commander. Within the Operations Division, you have the Patrol and Detective Bureau, supervised by Sergeants. The Division Commander reports to the Deputy Chief, who in turn reports to the Chief of Police.
The Patrol Bureau is the Uniform Patrol Section which is responsible for patrolling in marked, semi-marked or unmarked police vehicles, responding to all incidents requiring police service, enforcing the law, initiating criminal investigations, preserving the peace, investigating traffic accidents, enforcing traffic/truck laws and overseeing special events.
Each shift, which is called a "watch," is staffed in this manner:
1st Watch
7:00 am until 3:00 pm
2nd Watch
3:00 pm until 11:00 pm
3rd Watch
11:00 pm until 7:00 am
West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force (WESTAF)
Various personnel are assigned to the West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force (WESTAF). WESTAF assist member agencies and adjunct task forces in the successful investigation of violent crime and the apprehension and prosecution of those proven responsible for those crimes.
