The Public Works Department services include street, parking lot and traffic sign maintenance. Located at 2734 South 9th Avenue, it also oversees tree trimming and care, street sweeping and snow removal, branch and brush pick-up, sewer maintenance, and the repair and maintenance of water mains.

 

Other responsibilities include repair and maintenance of Village vehicles and equipment, and Village buildings and grounds, see the Broadview Public Works Team in action as they service the Broadview Community:

 

 

Pot Hole Fills
Hot patch machine is out daily, weather permitting. Filling pot holes in our streets and alley's.

 

 

Sewer Cleaning
The bi-annual sewer cleaning has begun at 9th Avenue working westward until the entire Village’s sewer lines have been serviced. This program consists of: a staff of three. Depending on weather conditions this program can last from eight to sixteen weeks. GMC 1600 gallon sewer Jetter operated off a 2000psi pump. Shoots 65 gallons per minute thru a diamond tip nozzle for a hose range of 500ft. Sweeper/vactor truck with a 2cubic yard storage bin For sludge removal/leaves/mud =compose that is held in the catch basins. Operation for vactor truck is 2200rpms for removal of debris.

 

 



Nicor Gas
Nicor Gas Main Replacements is ongoing and should conclude by summers end. Parkway restorations will include sod, concrete and asphalt replacements.

 

 

 

Storm Basin Replacements
Storm basins are cleaned as part of our bi-annual sewer system cleaning. We attempt to repair collapsed basins but sometime basin replacements are necessary.

 

 

 

Safety Training
Public Works employees attend safety training classes once a month.  Covering such topics as blood born pathogens, traffic flagging, trench digging and shoring, etc.  Upon completion employees receive certification. 

 

 

  

 

Side Walk Replacement
Public Works is in the process of identify sidewalks within the Village that need to be replaced.  Some sidewalk replacements will be through the Villages shared cost 50/50 program with homeowners.
