Broadview Police Department Public Safety Message

Over the past few days, the Broadview Police Department has recovered 8 items that are referred to as a "works" bomb, in the Broadview area. There are no reports of injury, or property damage related to these devices at this time. The department has learned that the device consists of a plastic soda bottle, (or similar item), which is filled with certain household chemicals and then sealed. A chemical reaction of poisonous chemicals and gases will cause the device to explode, should it be moved or disturbed from its original position. The explosion itself has the potential to cause permanent injury or burn to an individual. If anyone finds one of these devices, or suspects they may have something similar in appearance," DO NOT TOUCH THE DEVICE!!", instead call 911.
 
Anyone with further information regarding the origin of these devices is strongly encouraged to notify police immediately or leave an anonymous tip at cops@broadview-il.gov
